Twitter has announced that it will discontinue Fleets, a post-read feature, starting Aug. 3.

In November 2020 Twitter announced the global launch of Fleets, a feature that encourages users to "share their thoughts on the fly. Content posted through Fleets will appear at the top of a Twitter user’s home timeline and automatically disappear 24 hours after it is posted.

Twitter said it built Fleet as a low-pressure, ephemeral way for users to share their fleeting thoughts, and hoped Fleets would help more people easily join conversations on Twitter.

But since it introduced Fleet to everyone, Twitter hasn’t seen as many people join the Fleets conversation as it had hoped.
