The LEGO brand is known for its humor when it comes to movies and games, but a new title, LEGO Builder’s Journey, will look to inject some poetic narrative into the franchise on Apple Arcade.

From the toys to video games to movies, the LEGO brand is well-known sparking creativity and joy among children (and adults). The LEGO Group is taking it up a notch with LEGO Builder’s Journey, a new game that launched on Apple Arcade today.

The debut title from Light Brick, a new internal LEGO Games studio, LEGO Builder’s Journey is a puzzle-adventure at its core. But it aspires to be so much more than that in its attempt to deliver a poetic narrative and heartwarming message that highlights the importance of play.

Admittedly, I have yet to play it as it just released on Apple Arcade today. However, a launch trailer for the game definitely showed off the studio’s artistic ability to share a meaningful message with no use of dialogue, just meditative music and unique puzzles. Through a story that follows a father and son on a heartwarming journey through a LEGO world, we’ll learn the importance of play in our lives. The trailer gives off a very Pixar vibe in terms of creative emotional storytelling.

As far as gameplay is concerned, it primarily revolves around manipulating LEGO pieces to solve various puzzles. I can’t imagine the puzzles will be too challenge as LEGO still must appeal to children and how could the game spread the importance of play if it’s too frustrating to be fun?
